Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a program extension?

Our programs last for a set amount of time, either five or six semesters, depending on the program.  They may be fewer semesters if you are receiving transfer credit from a prior institution, or you are taking a second program that has courses common to a previous program you have taken with us.

You cannot extend your program just because you want to graduate later. If you fail a hybrid class, you will need to extend, however you should NOT fail on purpose just to extend your program.  It would reflect badly on your transcript and SEVIS record to do so, and may impact your ability to get OPT or H1B in the future.

However, if you do fail a class, you will need to use the program extension form.  Please submit a new ticket requesting a program extension form.

One positive way to extend your program is to join our CUNext program.  Please see the knowledge base for information on the CUNext program.
